In the fascinating once Venetian fishing village of Muggia is the biggest private collection in the world of items related to Beethoven. After having seen some of the more than 11.000 pieces, we move on to the canyon Val Rosandra that the river Rosandra carved out between Trieste and Slovenia. It is part of the Karst geographical region, has a rich plant diversity, numerous caves, cliffs used for climbing. In the summer it is refreshing to dive into the river.

Across the Slovenian border is the home of the Lipizzaner white horses, famous from the Spanish Riding School in Vienna.
Not far away is the Škocjan caves, on the UNESCO World Heritage List since 1986. The exceptional volume of the underground canyon is what distinguishes this cave from others. The view of the big river in the rainy season is majestic. The visit is about 3 km long, you height difference walked is 144 m, the inside temperature is 12 degrees.
The Socerb Castle on a hilltop in Slovenia offers an amazing view over Trieste and its gulf.

We reserve the right to cancel the tour on fixed dates if a sufficient number of participants is not reached. As a custom tour, small numbers of participants is possible.
Muggia is 13 km or 22 min. from Trieste’s central square the Piazza Unità. We will have 90 minutes in the Beethoven house.
Thereafter 12 km or 19 min to the Val Rosandra canyon. The walk will be at the start of the canyon, about 90 minutes. A quick lunch in 30 minutes.
The Lipica horse farm is 12 km or 20 min from Val Rosandra. The visit picked for you starts at 14:00.
At 15:30 we leave for the Škocjan caves, 13 km or 18 min away. In April, May and October, the tour starts at 15:30, in June-September at 16:00 and lasts 90 to 120 minutes.
The Socerb Castle is 22 km or 19 min away. After having enjoyed the impressive view, we head back to your pick-up/drop-off point. From the castle, there is 16 km or 26 min to Piazza Unità.
Lunch, snacks at the mountain hut.
Comfortable clothes and good walking shoes. A jacket or pullover, to stay comfortable in the cave that holds 12 degrees. A valid passport or identity card.
Depending on the size of the group, the transportation will be in a car, minivan or bus.
Entrance tickets for about 47 euro are included in the tour but you will yourself pay for the lunch.
The tour foresees two walks. In the Val Rosandra Canyon, some up and down slopes on the walking paths. The visit to the cave takes 1,5-2 hours and entails a height difference of 144 meter during the 3 km walk.
Full refund if cancelled due to weather. Cancellation fee can be witheld if cancelled with short notice.
